CEHS Week Returns Nov. 6-10 at USU

The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services will host its annual CEHS Week with a strong lineup of events on Nov. 6-10. Students and faculty look forward each year for the opportunity to highlight the college through their departments and programs during this weeklong event.

“We are proud of our student leaders, who have organized a number of meaningful events for Education and Human Services Week,” said Dean Al Smith of the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. “Please join us and learn more about how we enrich lives

through our research, teaching and engagement with Utah communities.”

CEHS Week will feature a variety of events involving student-facing activities combined with educational and community outreach.

Chloe Richmond, CEHS senator for USUSA, commented on the goal for CEHS week: “Our student council has been working diligently to provide a week full of free events that will give the university an overview of the mission of CEHS, which is to bring people together through education, community outreach, and health services.”

Nov. 6

School Lunch Tailgate Dinner

From 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Stadium Legacy Fields near the southeast doors of the Spectrum.

Kick off CEHS Week with the USUSA “Herd” co-sponsoring this event in celebration of the season opener for the USU Men’s Basketball team. Following the event, attendees may enjoy watching the game in the Spectrum.

Nov. 7

Flu Shot Clinic

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom.

Students need to bring current insurance card or pay $38 per shot. Reservations are mandatory and must be made by Nov. 5. Reservations: usu.edu/hr/wellness/services/flu-shot-clinic. Snacks will be provided for participants of the clinic, courtesy of CEHS.

Education, Health and Wellness in Rural Utah Panel

From 4 to 5:15 p.m. via Zoom video conferencing.

Expert panelists from across the state, including rural superintendents, rural researchers and practitioners, and higher education faculty, will engage in a lively discussion of assets of rural schools and communities, challenges faced in rural areas, and opportunities for collaboration. Pep Talk Paint Night

At 7 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom.

Greg Madden, professor in the Psychology department,will speak on “How to Cultivate Happiness.” Following Madden’s presentation, students will have a paint party with vinyl records and music. Vinyl records will be first come, first served, because a limited number are available.

Nov. 8

Escape Room: Emma’s Jewels

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Education Building Atrium.

Come and learn more about the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services through this adventure that will lead participants on a series of twists and turns. Groups of 8-10 people can participate in one of 10 escape rooms.

Nov. 9

Boogie and Game Night

From 7 to 9 p.m. in theTaggart Student Center Ballroom.

Find your groove and game on! A night of fun with virtual games, Just Dance and Mario Kart. Attendees will also enjoy playing board games and pizza.

Nov. 10

Veteran’s Day BBQ Lunch

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Taggart Student Center International Lounge.

Join USU President Elizabeth Cantwell as she honors the members of the USU Veteran’s Association. Attendees during the BBQ lunch will also have the opportunity to write letters to active members of the military.
