Cardozo and Steed-Kaufusi Named to the Mountain West All-Tournament Team

Utah State senior midfielder Ashley Cardozo and sophomore defender Kelsey Steed-Kaufusi have been named to the Mountain West all-tournament team as the league's postseason wrapped up on Saturday. The Aggies pushed top-seeded and eventual champion New Mexico to double overtime before losing 2-1 in the semifinals. UNM posted a 2-1 overtime victory over Boise State on Saturday to secure the title.

Cardozo scored the Aggies' game-winning goal in Utah State's 1-0 victory over Colorado State in the MW Quarterfinals. The shot from distance dropped just over the CSU's keeper's head and was featured as the No. 7 play on ESPN's SportsCenter that evening. Over the course of the tournament, Cardozo played in 176 minutes and recorded 10 shots with six on frame. Cardozo's winner against the Rams marked her school-record 13th game-winning goal of her career.

Steed-Kaufusi played every minute during the MW Tournament and saved a CSU shot off the line with her head in the quarterfinal round against the Rams. She was then part of late-game heroics against New Mexico as her service from just past the half line found the head of senior midfielder Kami Warner and led to the equalizing goal in the 90th minute. Steed-Kaufusi played every minute of the Aggies' 2021 campaign and has appeared in every minute in every match over her two-year career in Logan.
