By Marcus Jensen |

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University Campus Recreation will participate in the National Sport and Fitness Day on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 with special activities throughout the day. The activities are available to all USU student, faculty and staff.

There will be a series of events hosted by Campus Recreation as well as cross campus partners including SAAVI, Nutrition and Dietetics Program, Special Olympics Chapter, and CAPS.

“NIRSA National Sports and Fitness is a great day for us to continue growing the awareness of the recreational and wellness resources available to students and the university community,” said Amanda Bray, assistant director of Healthy Lifestyle Programs & Community Engagement. “Campus Recreation is about overall holistic wellness and this day helps us market that there are a variety of ways for someone to recreate and engage in their own health and wellness within our programs.”

National Sport and Fitness Day commemorates the founding of the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), a non-profit association that provides resources and education for advancing campus recreation. NIRSA was founded on Feb. 22, 1950. The association celebrates health, activity, competition and inclusivity.

“This is a way to promote different ways for people to recreate, however they choose to do so,” Bray said.
