ASCE Awards Scholarships to Two Aggie Engineers

The American Society of Civil Engineers awarded two scholarships to Utah State University civil engineering students at a statewide award ceremony June 18.

ASCE’s Utah Section is home to four branches and more than 1,600 members. Each year the Utah Section awards scholarships to two students in each branch. This year, Sadie Boyer and Kate Christiansen were awarded the Northern Utah Branch scholarships.

Sadie Boyer is a senior from Coalville, Utah. She is an engineering intern with Logan City and enjoys playing softball when she's off the clock. She also assists civil and environmental engineering faculty Patrick Singleton and Michelle Mekker with their pedestrian behavior research and plans to pursue a career in transportation engineering. This fall, she will start her master’s degree at USU.

Kate Christiansen is a junior with a minor in music studies from Lindon, Utah. In addition to her involvement with the student chapter of ASCE, she has also been involved with Engineering Council, Engineering Ambassadors, and the Latter-day Saint Student Association. She interned previously with the structural engineering firm CoreBrace and is now an intern with WesTech, which uses technology treatment solutions to provide clean water. She plans to get a master's in structural engineering and hopes to work at a firm where she can design bridges.
