Aggie Wellness Fair on Sept. 23 to Include Vaccine Clinic

The first Annual Aggie Wellness Fair will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the Legacy Field, and will focus on different aspects of wellness. In addition to free student activities hosted by Utah State University’s Campus Recreation department, flu shots and COVID-19 vaccinations will be available for students, faculty and staff, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Aggie Recreation Center. Food, provided by USU’s Dining Services, will be available throughout the fair.

“Providing flu and COVID vaccines will assist in keeping our population physically healthy,” said McKenzie Sorrells, the health and wellness coordinator. “When students can be physically healthy, they are able to focus on other parts of well-being leading to greater wellness.”

She added the goal of the Wellness Fair is to increase students’ knowledge of health and wellness resources on campus, and the fair is a typically hands-on experience for students, including a fitness assessment, outdoor yoga and even meditation, with mats provided.

To help mitigate risk of COVID-19 exposure, the events will be spaced out for distancing, and flyers will be shared to showcase campus-wide health and wellness resources.

“Getting more students vaccinated will allow Utah State to expand programming enhancing social connection among our students,” Sorrells said.

Those wishing to take advantage of the vaccination clinic, administered by the Bear River Health Department, and get a jump start before vaccinations are mandatory in the spring need only to bring their insurance card (if they have one, though it’s not required). Pre-registration is available through the local health department, but walk-in appointments will also be available.
