Aggie Ice Cream, Dairy Farmers Partner for Ice Cream Day Fundraiser

Dairy farmers donating 100 cents to USU student food pantry for every cone sold July 18

Whether it’s Aggie Blue Mint, Bull Tracks, Space Debris or another famous flavor, purchasing a cone at Aggie Ice Cream on July 18 will support efforts to fight hunger at Utah State University.

Throughout the daylong fundraising event, which marks National Ice Cream Day, Unbottled will donate 100 cents to the USU Student Nutrition Access Center (SNAC) for every cone sold. Unbottled promotes milk and other dairy products on behalf of the dairy farmers in Utah and Idaho as the consumer-facing brand for Dairy West.

SNAC will use the money to purchase milk from Gossner Foods, which the food pantry doesn’t often receive. The pantry, which has reached more than 10,000 visits annually in recent years, is not supported with student fees.

“We strive to provide pantry patrons with a selection of foods to meet their needs, and this milk will definitely help,” SNAC Director Kara Bachman said. “We depend on donations and grants to run smoothly, so we’re excited and grateful to everyone who supports USU students having access to nutritious food.”

The donation of 100 cents per cone, which honors the 100th anniversary of Aggie Ice Cream, will fund the purchase of fresh milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy products for the USU SNAC. Dairy provides important nutritional benefits for students and their families.

“Everyone should have access to healthy, nutritional food, and that includes milk and other dairy products,” said Dairy West Director of Community Wellness Jaclyn St. John. “Partnering with Aggie Ice Cream is an effective — and delicious — way to fight hunger.”

The Aggie Creamery at 750 N. 1200 E. on USU’s Logan campus will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, July 18. The store’s regular hours are available at usu.edu/aggieicecream.
