Special Research Landscapes Presentation

Panel Discussion/Presentation

As the only endowed quartet at a university in Utah — and one of only a handful in the country — the Fry Street Quartet is uniquely positioned to highlight how research and art enhance each other. In this event, the group will discuss the profound role that art-making plays in fostering observation, beauty, wonder, and a shared cultural understanding.
As part of the event, the Fry Street Quartet will perform Lek, a captivating piece by composer Nicolas Lell Benavides, written for string quartet and electronics. The electronics incorporate field recordings of the sage grouse’s iconic mating ritual, captured in Utah, and blend seamlessly with the quartet’s performance.
The dynamic and evocative work beautifully illustrates how art and nature intertwine to tell compelling stories.
This USU Research Landscapes special presentation is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the West's premier quartets.

Student Research Symposium

Exhibition

The Student Research Symposium is an annual celebration of student research at Utah State. Hosted in April, the symposium features hundreds of presentations and represents every college and department at USU. Presenters are invited to share their work in the form of a poster presentation, an oral presentation accompanied by a slide deck, creative performance, or art exhibit. Students who participate in the event receive feedback from evaluators to improve their presentation and research skills. The best presentations, as determined by the evaluators, will be recognized after the symposium.
