Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Nutrition Virtual Open House

Information/Orientation

The College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences offers a 100% online Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Nutrition. The program prepares students for leadership and administrative positions in public health and can also help students get accepted into medical or dental school and other doctorate programs. The program is holding a Virtual Open House that will include a program overview and Q&A session on March 21, 2024, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A recording will be available afterward for individuals who register but are not able to attend live. Pre-registration is required to attend live or to obtain the recording.

LAEP Speaker Series: Todd Johnson

Landscape Architecture’s Dimensions Speaker Bio: Todd Johnson was born in Willmar, Minnesota in 1952 into a family with two older brothers. His oldest brother Craig taught landscape architecture at USU for 42 years and suggested that Todd consider becoming a landscape architect. Todd received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning degree from USU in 1976. After working in Calgary Alberta for four years, he moved to Boston and received a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard University. In 1984 Todd co-founded the firm Civitas with USU alum and classmates Mark Johnson and Ann Mullins. After ten years at Civitas Todd joined Design Workshop/Denver, becoming a partner, and practicing there until 2013. Teaching at Utah State has been Todd’s professional passion for the past ten years. Todd has two grown children Natalie and Sam, and a grandson named Raphael.

Aviation Week Day One - Helicopter Day

USU Aviation Technology will be starting off its Aviation Week with a helicopter landing on the northwest corner of the quad at 10:20am. Come and watch the landing, stay for questions, and then watch it take off at 1:30. Free to the public!

Aviation Week Annual Banquet and Silent Auction

Fundraiser

Come celebrate the Flying Aggies at the annual Aviation Program Banquet at the Logan-Cache Airport. Join us for a big Flying Aggie Reunion Celebration where we will recognize our outstanding students and raise scholarship funds with any items you can donate for our silent auction. Three years ago we raised over $2,500 for our students with donated items such as airplane models, discovery flights, historical and aviation-themed items. Dinner is $15 for our students and faculty, $10 for youth under 16, and $25 for all others. All paid guests will receive the 2024 annual program coin! Dress is business casual (open-collar, nice pants, coat and tie are optional). We will have a guest speaker, celebrate our 85th Anniversary of Aviation degree at USU with a display, and have opportunities to fellowship with current students and alumni. We will be honoring our top students and present some financial student achievement awards.

USU Aviation Technology Aviation Week continues with UAS (Drone) demonstrations on the east side of the Quad. Come see large drones, small drones, fast drones, and the skills USU UAS Students possess flying them. In case of inclement weather, they will move to the Sunburst Lounge in the Taggart Student Center

Aviation Week Day 4: Maintenance and Sims

Information/Orientation

USU Aviation Technology Aviation Week will be highlighting the program that started it all at USU 85 years ago: AVIATION MAINTENANCE! Tours of our aviation maintenance facility in the USU TECH Building including the only jet engine test cell based at a university in Utah and in the region.

In the Industrial Science Building we will have tours of our aircraft simulators students use to advance their training, and we'll have a drone simulator you can try as well.

USU Aviation Technology Aviation Week will conclude at the Logan/Cache Airport with our Open House. You will tour USU Flight training facilities, hangars, and the fixed-wing and rotary aircraft we use for training. Students and staff will be available for any questions you may have. This event is open to the public.

LAEP Speaker Series: Sarah Creachbaum, Distinguished Alumnus

Welcome to Scenario B: Lessons in survival from our national parks About the Lecture: My presentation will highlight three projects spanning my 30-year career in the National Park Service. Each project involves aspects of indigenous knowledge, science, and rational planning (endangered species management in Hawaii, river restoration at Olympic National Park, and subsistence management national parks in the Arctic region). I'll highlight the resulting exigent questions of policy and federal land management that are driven by our rapidly changing climate. I'll close with personal observations and lessons learned. Speaker Bio: M. Sarah Creachbaum currently serves as the regional director for the National Park Service Alaska Region in Anchorage, Alaska. Creachbaum has served as a national park superintendent since 2006, first at War in the Pacific National Historical Park in Guam, then at Haleakala National Park, and at Olympic National Park, where she led the Elwha River Restoration Project, the largest dam removal and river restoration in the United States. She has also served in numerous temporary assignments including Superintendent of Grand Canyon National Park, acting Deputy

Hangar Hop

Fundraiser

The USU Flight Team and Aviation Technology will be hosting the annual Hangar Hop on April 13, 2024 from 7pm-11pm at the large USU Hangar FL9. The aircraft hangar will be transformed into a 1940's USO style hangar with live band music, a large 60' parachute overhead, and vintage aircraft for photos. Dress in period costume! Cost is $15 per person. All proceeds go to support the USU Flight Team's participation in regional competition. Light refreshments are provided. COME DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY!

LAEP Speaker Series: Chris Creasey, The Craig Johnson Speaker

Intersections of Practice: A Candid Conversation on Career Paths About the Lecture: What inspires you and drives your future career path? How does that inspired career intersect with your personal life? In this dialog, we’ll look at the differences between public and private sector practice in Landscape Architecture through a project-focused lens. Creasey will focus on providing transparent information and a wide variety of example projects to help new graduates make informed decisions about their future careers. Speaker Bio: Chris Creasey is a Landscape Architect with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District focused on large-scale interdisciplinary civil works and military projects throughout the Midwest and Mountain West. His practice includes work on tribal partnership lands bordering USACE managed waterways, interagency projects for NPS, Fish & Wildlife, and the Department of Energy, and stormwater management and master planning for seven military installations spanning five states. Chris began his career at Sasaki Associates in Boston where his practice included all phases of design, from planning to construction administration at a variety of scales.
